VERY RARELY should External Credit Requests/Transfer Credit Requests be entered, but if the professional development meets the requirements below, then the state is more likely to not throw out the hours. After you enter the request in Professional Learning, let your direct supervisior or Principal know that it is ready to be approved.
ALSDE Requirements:
- The professional development you attended was NOT created as a COURSE in Professional Learning. If it was, and you did not register through Professional Learning, you will need to contact the provider of that PD session and ask them to add you to the roster and award credit there.
- The professional development you attended was 3+ hours. Anything entered as an External/Transfer Credit Request will be thrown out as hours twoard recertification.
- The title of the PD must be detailed so that the reviewer can easily tell what type of high quality instruction was provided.
- In the DESCRIPTION section of the External/Transfer Credit Request form, you must include the Alabama Quatlity Teaching Standards that apply to that PD. (See link below to AQTS)
